Six Degrees of Nordstrom... A long time ago, before I became a tech head, I worked in the world of sales. This was before I found out that I wasn't cut out for it. ;) And could it get any better than selling women's shoes at Nordy's?? Yes! A female Al Bundy! In my life, I've dated two people who worked for Nordstrom. My very first boyfriend and Lex. Oddly enough, Lex was a buyer at the SF Center and we had never met. He found out the receptionist at the spa where I sent him for a massage used to work for him. And one of the temp receptionists at my office used to work for him, too. He also met his ex/current girlfriend at Nordstrom, but, ran into her after she had quit and then they started to date. Anyways..enough about him. I was standing outside my office yesterday when a guy passed by clearly running either to feed the meter or something. He then came back around in his truck and stopped right in front of me. He stared and then asked, "Hey, did you used to work at Nordstrom???" I said I had. I looked at him and he looked familiar, but, couldnt' quite place the name. I could tell he couldn't remember my name either "It's Patrick!!" Then it all came rushing back to me. There was a lil group of us that would all hang out - Cafe/Espresso Bar and Brass Plum Shoes Asians! So, we're gonna get together for lunch and catch up on 6-7 years -- or is it more???

*sigh* The drawback to dating someone that is in your circle of friends is that they invite both of you to events. Even if you're not together anymore. It made me sad today to see Lex's response to an event next weekend. He isn't going because he's going backpacking instead. Ironically, it was something we had planned to do in the next couple of weeks, had we still been together. It's stuff like this that really sucks. Cuz then I wonder if he's going with Mrs. Lex or what. :( Who knows. I know I shouldn't care.

Interesting events for today... wow...what an interesting today was. The dr. added my email address to his company's newsletter. Maybe I should take it off the list until he writes me for real. Hmph. I wrote him asking if I needed to sign an NDA before I speak to him. Anyways... so, I was walking to the ferry building, when atop a parked black Civic, I saw a seagull sitting. Not standing, he was comfy as a bug in a rug. And when I walked by, I mentioned to him that he was being rude. He didn't even get up, he just watched me walk by, and continued to sit there. Wiggled his tail feathers, but, stayed where he was. The Embarcadero was full of skateboarders, so, wearing sandals, I made sure I watched where they were heading. One of the lil boys stopped by me, and said hello. I said, "hi" back. And he said it was a beautiful day, and I couldn't help but agree. When I got home, we had a potential roommate over for dinner, kind of like a second interview. He's very cool. He's older, from Brussels, and is very very mellow and cool. He's going to teach us to speak French and Italian. We asked him to move in after dessert. So, I guess depending on how things work out, maybe I'll stay here, or maybe I'll stick with my plan to move to the city. It's all very up in the air right now. I watched the ESPY awards for awhile. Samuel Jackson is so cool. :) Anyhooz....time for sleep!

Huh??? What is this? Will Tony Gonzales really play hoops again??? Whoa.

Tuesday...it's only Tuesday???

Seen this weekend: Hav Plenty; MIB II
Listening to: 'Have you Ever?' Brandy; 'Can't Help Falling' A Teens
Pissed off at: getting a ticket for no front license plate.
Looking for: distraction

You know, there are some guys that look great on paper. I was actually introduced to a guy the other night. We'd seen each other before. I think he became single right when Lex and I started hanging out. Anyways...he's the same age as Lex, and that's the end of the similarities.... he owns his own company, has his PHd from Cornell University in Mechanical Engineering. Who knows how he really is, though. hm...

Thoughts Well, I got to do some thinking this weekend. I saw Lex at a picnic on Thursday - he wasn't supposed to show up, and actually left early. Later that night, I saw him at a club with his basketball buddies. The question on everyone's mind was..."where was 'she'?" It was the first time we'd seen each other in a few weeks. At the picnic, he tried to make small talk, I was still in the state of shock, and didn't really have much to say. A couple of days later, I was able to get things really in gear. Somehow, with us knowing a lot of the same people, we were going to have to co-exist. It's just something that I'm going to have to suck up. If you really love someone, you want them to be happy. I guess I don't necessarily feel that she'll end up making him happy. But, that's not my decision. The best thing I can do for him, is offer my support to him, if he needs it. The longest relationship I had was a little over 3 years. And at the end, we were bickering a lot, and it came to an abrupt end. We had had our arguments through the duration and managed to work them out, until it finally came to an end. I'll admit it, I still loved him for a long time after that, but, I thought that it was best that we weren't together. Lex's issues with his ex are convoluted. They've broken up several times in the past couple of years. And instead of letting one another move on and try to find something that might work for both of them, they are caught in a vicious circle. I, personally, wouldn't call my ex to tell him I still loved him, especially, if I knew that he was with someone else. Lex needs to figure out for himself what would make that relationship work - whether it's turning a blind eye on the other persons issues, or coming to a resolution that it isn't what he wants. Either way, it's not something that anyone, least of all me, should try take away from him or shield him from. I know from personal experience that learning lessons the hard way, are sometimes the only way to do it. Sometimes history can be a very strong bond...it's not to say that it's the best thing, but, sometimes you cling to what you know. Change and the future can be a very scary thing. We didn't get far enough along to find out if our future was going to be bright or not, but, that's not something that I can dwell on. Someday, I'll be sitting across from someone, and when they ask me what I'm thinking I'll be able to say "nothing" not..."lex's smile.." not.."lex's quirky sense of humor..." etc.... I'm gonna move on. Letting life pass me by is something I don't want to do -- love doesn't do that.
