Truth Stranger than Fiction?????!!! So...one of our help desk guys was telling me about a user who's computers were constantly crashing. It was like he had serious Technologitis or something like that. He has had problems with his laptops in every single office he's been in. One wonders what kind of websites he visits. Anyways. They gave this guy his 3rd brand new machine. Worked like a charm when it left the office. The minute the user comes back into the office he starts down his long list of what didn't work while he was out of the office. Back in the help desks' hands, it again performed as it should. Nothing could be reproduced. Then our help desk guy looked at the users' hands and noticed a large metallic ring. When asked, the user said that it was a Tungsten ring. The HDG asked the user to work without the ring for awhile. That was yesterday. The computer hasn't crashed yet. I realize that Tungsten is a conductive metal..but, holy cow...take out a PowerBook time after time? Maybe that's cuz of the brilliant design of having the harddrive pretty much uninsulated under the removable keyboard. Gives new meaning to bling bling.

Last week I went to watch the playoff game between Oakland High's Wildcats and Oakland Tech's Bulldogs. It's amazing how entertaining high school ball can be nowadays. OHigh (who we were cheering for, since one of my friends is a substitute teacher there) has a star guard - Ayinde Ubaka. That kid has handles. He used to play for my friend when he was 7th grade. Mr. O tried everything to get him to be more orthodox in his ball handling, but, by the end of that season, Ayinde had his technique down ... and O couldn't say anything. He's continued to use his skills in high school, as I saw in that game....weaving and out of various sticky situations....somehow coming out of a crowd of opposite colored jerseys, lightly flipping it behind the back to an open guy who made the shot and he kept doing that during the night. Pretty amazing. Unfortunately, OHigh lost, but, we're hoping for an at-large berth to regionals for them, so their season doesn't end yet. Ayinde definitely has the potential to be a big baller....I think he's gonna go to Cal..who can use a good guard.

During the game, my friend was approached by a lot of students...female students..it was pretty cute..."hi, mr. o." " oh look, it's mr. o...he-eey there!" Although, if I had a substitute teacher who looked like my friend, I'd be putting laxitive in my teacher's coffee all the timeh. I can tell that a lot of the lil girls think he's a hottie. I take that back, they ain't so little. Some of those girls are big girls for high schoolers. Daaaamn!

I got an ebonics lesson, too. One of O's old students came up to talk to him...and when O asked Kal a question .. he answered, "Fa-Sho F-A-S-H-O" We've been using it for the past week...it's now engrained in our vocabulary.

Fa sho.
